Ask your child's classroom teacher and/or special education teacher to write a brief description of your child's current academic program that you can share with the state at your child's new school.
I had the pleasure of interviewing a family with a special needs school age child with cerebral palsy. Lives in EWA (Evah) Beach, west OAHU. He came here from England on a mission and I asked him how difficult it was to find schools for his child. Ewa Gentry said she discovered "Holomua Primary School" in the area and went through a thorough special needs assessment process, but was delighted. The school has a low student to teacher ratio and they really challenge students as much as possible. Her daughter has an aide who helps her while she is on bond and a physical therapist who works with her weekly. Looks like a great team at this school is helping this kid succeed without hurting him.
