To support our community's working families and provide some stability, the Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) has announced that three of its multi-track schools on Oahu will temporarily transition to a single track schedule in the fall.

In a non-Covid year, several public schools in Hawaii have a track system where you stay in one of 4 tracks year-round. The schools on the track work throughout the year. I had the pleasure of interviewing a family with a special needs school age child with cerebral palsy. Lives in EWA (Evah) Beach, west OAHU. He came here from England on a mission and I asked him how difficult it was to find schools for his child. Ewa Gentry said she discovered "Holomua Primary School" in the area and went through a thorough special needs assessment process, but was delighted. The school has a low student to teacher ratio and they really challenge students as much as possible. Her daughter has an aide who helps her while she is on bond and a physical therapist who works with her weekly. Looks like a great team at this school is helping this kid succeed without hurting him.
