Home Goods San Antonio - Dollar General is opening more of its response to Five Below in San Antonio this year

Popshelf, Dollar General's slightly pricier home decor store aimed at women, is planning four new locations across San Antonio a year after opening the first location.

Beach residents can expect one of these pOpshelf stores at the Rim Shopping Center at 17822 La Cantera Parkway, Suite 114, according to several filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The 9,613 square meter store will fill two existing store spaces in the shopping center, with construction expected to begin in July and end in September of this year.

San Antonio already has one pOpshelf store at 4351 Thousand Oaks Drive. Dollar General of Tennessee announced the pOpshelf concept in October 2020 with 95% of items priced at $5 or less with items "about" priced at more than $5.

In announcing pOpshelf, Dollar General said the store is aimed at suburban women with incomes between $50,000 and $125,000. Sells seasonal and home decor, health and beauty products, household cleaning supplies, party items and essential entertainment products. Williams-Sonoma is days away from reopening in San Antonio after closing a store at The Shops at La Cantera during the pandemic. The kitchen and home giant is opening in the Alamo Quarry Market, next to Sephora and Whole Foods Market. A grand opening weekend is scheduled for Friday, February 25 through Sunday, February 27.

Multiple attempts to reach Williams-Sonoma were unsuccessful, but details of the store's grand opening celebration are circulating on social media. The program gives buyers the chance to preview the space, meet indigenous local leaders like Diego Galicia and Rico Torres from Mixtli and Pearl's famed manager Paige Presley. Guests will also have the opportunity to nibble on snacks and enjoy Woodford Reserve whiskey.

The opening program will start at 18:00. on Friday and Saturday. It is unclear whether Williams-Sonoma will offer opening events on Sunday.

After the La Cantera store closed, the closest Williams-Sonoma store was in Austin; There is also an outlet store at San Marcos Premium Outlets.

The opening of the Williams-Sonoma quarry follows another highly anticipated opening. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, a rotary-style dining experience, opened earlier this week.

Krabble and Lopa Tortilla cookies are also coming to Quori soon. The Maple Street Biscuit Company is opening across Bassa Road in Quarry Village. As the incoming business has caused congestion, so have departing tenants like Max's Wine Dive, a longtime fried chicken and waffles restaurant. The biscuit restaurant occupies a place previously occupied by Futbli.

Although the opening marks a renewal of the Williams-Sonoma brand locally, the company has maintained a presence without the former La Cantera dealership.
