172 Infantry Brigade - The 172nd Infantry (English 172nd United States Infantry Brigade) (Blackhawk Brigade) is an independent infantry brigade combat team (IBCT) of the United States Army. The brigade is part of U.S. Army Europe and one of the Army's three active independent combat brigades. It was therefore subordinated directly to the V. US Corps at Wisbon, without being subordinated to any union at the divisional level.

172 Infantry Brigade
The unit was first formed as part of the National Army in August 1917 and was assigned to the 86th Infantry Division. Brigadier de France in September 1918, but is not known to have taken part in combat operations during the First World War. During the interwar period, the regiment continued as part of the 86th Division, thus part of a reserve training unit, and was stationed in Springfield, Illinois. By 1939 Brigham's entire US Army had been disbanded, leaving only the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC). HHC r 172. The Army was reorganized into a reconnaissance platoon in the 86th Infantry Division in 1942, which saw the last days of the war in Europe, when the division replaced the US 8th Infantry Division, albeit in a particularly defensive position. When the division finally moved to the Pacific in September 1945 after a brief return to the United States, the surrender of Japan had already been signed and the end of the war sealed.

The regiment was reconstituted in 1963 and assigned to the Regular Army as an independent unit before being activated in April 1986 at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He did not participate in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
On 17 April 1998, the battalion—the first of the reconstituted US Army independent battalions—was activated as the 172nd Infantry Division (Special) at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Air Force and two infantry units were attached to the Second Infantry Division. As a "briga fence theater" it was to be available as a reactive force for Alaska and the North Pacific.
As part of the 1997 military reform implementation, the 172nd Infantry Brigade was transformed into a Stryker Brigadier Combat Team (SBCT). Brigadier also receives more than 300 Stryker wheeled armored vehicles and several unmanned aerial vehicles as flying reconnaissance units. The restructuring is intended to give the briga greater mobility and reduce logistics costs. The conversion was completed on 16 October 2003, making the squadron the US Army's third Stryker squadron. In the spring of 2005, Comanur changed the brigade's slogan from Snow Hawks to Arctic Wolves.
In August 2005, the Army deployed to Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The operation, originally scheduled to end on 27 July 2006, eventually lasted until November 2006, during which time forces were redeployed to Baghdad. With a duration of 16 months, this was the longest deployment of a US military unit since the Vietnam War. In recognition of this, General George W. Casey presented his unit with the Valorous Unit Award, the second highest unit award in the Army.

In this operation, 26 soldiers of Brig were killed and 350 soldiers were injured. After returning from an extended deployment in Baghdad on 14 December 2006, the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team was officially designated the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
Following this major operation in December 2006, the battalion was reactivated on 16 March 2008 as the 172nd Infantry Division at Schweinfurt, where it replaced the 2nd Division of the 1st US Infantry Division in Germany. Equipment, vehicles, workers are delayed. Brigadier's motto has been "Blackhawks" ever since. By 2008, the group had moved extensively to Grafenwoehr.
In November 2008, the force was deployed as part of Multi-National Iraq, first to Kuwait and then to Iraq.
In December 2008, replacing the US 3rd Infantry Division's 4th Brigade Combat Team (Perangu), the brigade was finally commanded at the base of operations at Camp Kalsu, south of Baghdad. The Blackhawk Army was responsible for the area around Switzerland. Their function is primarily to build and support local government. Your tenure is set at twelve months. The brigade is scheduled to return to the United States in 2012 and regroup as the 1st Armored Division's 7th Brigade Combat Team at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. However, Briga was disbanded in October 2013 as part of defense budget cuts.
After returning from Iraq, all soldiers remaining in Schweinfurt had to be gradually moved in the direction of Grafenwoehr.

The 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), also known as the "Mountain Battalion", is an infantry battalion of the Vermont Army National Guard specializing in mountain and cold operations. The unit is under the command of the Vermont Army National Guard's 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain).
Prior to the creation of the 86th IBCT (MTN) in 2008, the 3-172 IN (MTN) was the only conventional unit trained and equipped for mountain operations in the US Army. 3-172 IN (MTN) inherited a strong legacy from the fame of the early 10th Mountain (Alpine) Division in World War II.
